an artist residency project
recipient of a €5,000 kreativfonds grant, bauhaus-universität weimar (2025)
heichelheim, germany
rather than treating the village as a passive backdrop, artists are invited to work closely with farmers, craftspeople, and cultural practitioners to co-create works that reflect the rhythms of rural life. rooted in the (agri)cultural landscape of thuringia, the project explores the intersections of food and art.
following a guided research-driven model, selected artists will collaborate with local actors through shared knowledge exchanges and hands-on engagements with food systems, land use, and community traditions. the process will culminate in a final exhibition in heichelheim in summer 2026, extending the dialogue beyond the immediate context and integrating local insights into global artistic discourse.
on-going, expected implementation in august 2026
